Short Final (Repentance)

You are committed to land, there is no power available for a go-around.

You have a deep change of mind and heart and choose to reject and forsake all known sin. You make God your pilot, and give Him the right to fly your life.

Repentance is letting go of the control wheel before you believe.

Repentance is getting out of the pilotís seat, so that Jesus Christ may take His rightful place there.

Repentance is not just a radio call, being sorry for your sins. With repentance there is sorrow, but you can have sorrow without repentance. Many people are sorry for the consequences of sin, but not sin itself. “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.15

Repentance is not just maintaining the same course at a lower speed: itís a thorough course change. Itís not sufficient to merely stop sinning in some ways. Some people have refrained from certain sins and reformed for personal reasons (health, reputation, family, business, etc.), not because their sins displeased God.

15 2 Corinthians 7:10.
