You probably know something already about God, but here are three vital truths you should consider now.
…He is all-wise and knows what is best for your life. No contrary wind, complex radar, fickle instrument or arcane regulation is beyond his understanding.
…He is holy, cannot approve of sin and will judge it. Just like gravity, sooner or later you have to land. Will it be a safe landing, or a crash?
…He is merciful so He can hold back judgment and pardon you because of Christís death on the cross.1
Aerodynamics can postpone the landing, but can not delay it forever. Just like lift under a wing, if you understand mercy, the landing can be safe. Ignore lift, aerodynamics, and mercy, and there will be a crash.
The Bible is Godís FAR and AIM.2 It says Jesus Christ is the only way to God, for he said “ÖI am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” 3
What is the highest purpose for living? Some say — my family, to be happy, live a good life, be fulfilled. These are good, but the Bible tells us the highest purpose is to know God by experience through Jesus Christ. Think of it! You can actually know God as you would a friend.4
1 “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin…” Micah 7:18. Since the Bible is so important, it is quoted here. Where there are names and number, i.e. “Micah 7:18,” “John 17:3,” they refer to the smaller book by that name inside the Bible, with the first number the chapter and the second the verse. The Bible is a long series of books, this reference system helps find its quotations.
2 For pilots in the United States, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) publishes the FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) and AIM (Airmanís Information Manual). Legal and safe flight is impossible in this jurisdiction without those two volumes.
3 John 14:6.
4 “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3.
